Kayla Norell is an attorney at Punchwork with a passion for helping people through life’s most challenging moments. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in the suburbs of Chicago in Elburn, Illinois, she grew up surrounded by a close-knit family that helped shape her compassionate, people-first approach to both life and the law.
As a child, Kayla imagined a future as a veterinarian or doctor because she always wanted a career centered on helping others. That same desire eventually led her to the legal profession. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology, along with a minor in Political Science and a Nonprofit Management Certificate, from Northern Illinois University before continuing her education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. There, she completed both her Juris Doctor from the William H. Bowen School of Law and a Master of Public Administration, giving her a well-rounded perspective on advocacy and public service.
Kayla’s career has taken her through a variety of roles that all share one common theme: serving others. Before law school, she worked as a Registered Behavior Technician in the Applied Behavior Analysis field and as a paraprofessional at a specialized therapeutic school. During law school, she worked at the law library, served as a student representative for LexisNexis, and gained hands-on legal experience as a law clerk for both a local criminal defense firm and the Arkansas Department of Inspector General. After earning her law degree, she worked as an attorney for the Arkansas Department of Commerce before serving as a judicial law clerk in circuit court. Those experiences gave her valuable insight into the legal system from multiple perspectives before joining the Punchwork team.
What Kayla enjoys most about her work is simple: helping people. She finds it rewarding to guide clients through difficult situations and provide support when they need it most.
Outside the office, Kayla enjoys staying active and creative. You’ll often find her practicing yoga, hiking, camping, taking photographs, creating art, or attending concerts and music festivals. When she’s not exploring the outdoors or discovering new music, she loves spending time with family and friends or relaxing with a good movie.
Family is at the heart of Kayla’s life. She shares her home with her awesome fiancé and their four energetic dogs, and she treasures every opportunity to spend time with the people—and pets—she loves most.
