Zoe “Zobelle” Ras has always had a heart for helping others. Born and raised mostly in Fairview, Pennsylvania, with a little bit of Jupiter, Florida mixed in, Zoe has called several places home, including New Orleans, Tuscaloosa, Savannah, and Birmingham.
Her path to the law took her through the University of Alabama, where she studied Political Science and Sociology, followed by a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Savannah State University. She later earned her law degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. During law school, Zoe competed on the Client Counseling Team, volunteered in the community, and studied international law at the University of Cambridge in England. She also clerked with a civil rights law firm and Legal Services Alabama.
After law school, Zoe worked as contract General Counsel for a landscaping and engineering firm, handling commercial real estate litigation, construction law, and corporate matters. Her favorite part of being an attorney is simple: helping people.
That same passion shows up in Zoe’s work outside the office. She has volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House of Alabama since college and continues to support the organization today as a House Volunteer and member of its Junior Board House Events Committee. She also volunteers with Volunteer Lawyers Birmingham, providing free legal help to veterans, first responders, and people in need.
When she’s not working or volunteering, Zoe loves horseback riding, hiking, reading, and needlepoint. If she has a completely free day, you’ll probably find her at the pool or lake, or enjoying a concert or festival. And while she may not have a family of her own just yet, she has two very important companions: her golden retriever, Tiger Woods, and her cat, Mr. Peepers.
As a kid, Zoe dreamed of becoming either a cowgirl or a paleontologist. These days, she gets to combine a little adventure, a lot of curiosity, and her love for helping people as an attorney.
Unless you’re already a lawyer, you probably have questions. We believe in educating people on the law, even if they don’t use our services. Go ahead and dive in.
